THREE PETALS by Alvin Tran (with Wendy XU & KATIE)

A video for the ‘Love Letters’ Project by Dept.of Love. ‘Love Letters’ is a series of epistolary commissions by international artists and writers. Twelve contributors were invited to write a love letter to someone, something, or some time. The first artist Alvin Tran(Choreographer) made a video collaborating with K-POP star Katie, and poet Wendy Xu. The video shows Katie reading Wendy Xu’s poem, and then dancers dancing to Katie’s song ‘Future Love’.

The Department of Love is a curatorial collective initiated by Olivia Aherne, Paulina Ascencio Fuentes, Celina Basra and Anaïs Castro. As the Department of Love they have curated exhibitions in China and the UK, and commissioned new work by Débora Delmar, Jade Montserrat, Alvin Tran, Steven Warwick amongst others. The Department of Love is a framework to explore love as a mode of resistance, a practice of collaboration and a continuous exercise in empathy.
